California Organic Company to Host a Fashion Industry Panel Discussion on Fair Trade and Supply Chain Transparency

SANTA ROSA, Calif., Feb. 18 /CSRwire/ - INDIGENOUS is kicking off the 2013 segment of its ?Our World. Our Worth? campaign with a fashion panel discussion on fair trade and supply chain transparency at the Women?s Wear Daily Magic Tradeshow, to be held February 20, 2013, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The 2013 segment of the campaign aims to address the entire fashion industry.

worthwearingFashion bloggers and other socially responsible and fair trade brands are invited to participate in a dialogue to determine ways in which the fashion industry can spread fair trade and organic practices to the global supply chain.

The Our World Our Worth campaign was launched in 2012, by the California based organic and fair trade fashion pioneer INDIGENOUS. On the 2012 stage of the campaign, INDIGENOUS used social media and blogger relations and a unique QR code on every garment to connect consumers with the artisans who hand-make INDIGENOUS fashion.

?We want every fashion consumer to be a conscious consumer, one who takes the time to know who made her clothes and how her purchase affects the artisans? life. We hope that our collaborations here with other brands and fashion bloggers will bring further attention to the importance of the ethical supply chain,? said Scott Leonard, co-founder and CEO of INDIGENOUS.

Following the Women?s Wear Daily Magic panel, the discussion will be open to the public, with a Tweet-Chat scheduled for March 5, 2013. All are welcome to join the discussion by following INDIGENOUS on Twitter @INDIGENOUS and using the #WorthWearing hash tag to participate in the conversation. The Tweet-Chat aims to extend the dialogue to the general national and international public. It will be hosted by CSRwire and will feature INDIGENOUS and other socially conscious brands on the topic of fair trade and organic fashion.

?This is the age of fair trade and organic and this is the decade when the supply chain will be transformed. Major brands like Eileen Fisher are collaborating with us at INDIGENOUS to do what is right for artisans and workers in the fashion supply chain. However, a lot of brands are still on the sidelines. Now is the time to join the conversation, to stand out and be counted as those who seek fair and just industry practices,? said Matt Reynolds, co-founder and President of INDIGENOUS.

INDIGENOUS is considered a true pioneer in premium eco-sensitive and socially-conscious apparel. INDIGENOUS has provided organic and fair-trade quality clothing since 1994, and has established itself as the first name premium eco fashion, employing over 1,500 highly skilled artisans in knitting groups and cooperatives. The INDIGENOUS collection is available through 700 premium specialty boutiques nationwide. Learn more at www.indigenousdesigns.com or www.facebook.com/indigenousdesigns.
