Roman Ammirato, a center for the Hawkesbury Hawks of the Central Canada Hockey League, has committed to Union for the 2014-15 season.
Ammirato tweeted, "Off to play D1 Hockey at Union College in 2014-2015.... Couldn't be any happier!! #Dutchmen #UnrealFeeling"
Ammirato, a native of Williamstown, N.J., completed his second season in the CCHL. He started last season with the Cornwall Colts, where he was a teammate of fellow Union 2014-15 recruit Michael Pontarelli. Ammirato had had 21 goals and 32 assists in 39 games. He was traded to the Hawks midway through the season and had 13 goals and 17 assists in 22 games.
With Cornwall in 2011-12, Ammirato had 19 goals and 15 assists in 37 games.
Ammirato is 20 years old. He is 5-foot-8 and weighs 157 pounds.
