China's Inflation Eases

BEIJING?China's consumer inflation slowed sharply to the lowest level in nearly two-and-a-half years in June, likely one key reason why the central bank was comfortable with cutting benchmark interest rates for the second time in less than a month last week.

Economists said the slower inflation is opening doors for a further loosening of monetary policy and more investments by the government in the second half to ensure the country's economy rebounds.
